Fully-functional YouTube step: how to request an API Quota Extension / Channel Audit from YouTube

To use all the features of the YouTube API as a step in your Flow, you need to request permission from YouTube. Here's how.

To use the YouTube API to upload/publish your videos automatically, you need to request from YouTube an API Quota Extension or Channel Audit.

By default, YouTube will make your videos irreversibly private; once you get the necessary approval from YouTube, your videos can then be made public.

Why?

Per YouTube's rule, every channel or account has a limited API request quota per day. To make the Step in a Flow fully automated and functional, you need to request a Quota extension and Channel Audit from YouTube by following the steps below:

  • Step 1: Go to Youtube Quota Extension and Service Audit and choose "Audit Initiated by YouTube"
  • Step 2: Fill out the form (see suggested answers here) and attach the app design document about the service (you can download our template here) using the YouTube API; then submit.
  • Step 3: Check your email to make sure your request was sent and do check your email regularly to respond to the YouTube team in case they need extra information to conduct the audit.
Notes: The YouTube team will usually ask for your YouTube channel ID and a detailed quota usage breakdown
  • Step 4: After providing all the required information, the YouTube team will review and approve your request.

Woohoo! Now you will be able to fully utilize the YouTube API as a step in your Flow on AVflow.io.
